Fixed Income Intermediate

Floating-rate bond

Also known as Floater · FRN

A bond whose coupon resets periodically against a benchmark rate, so income rises and falls with the market. Floaters have very low duration and protect against rising rates, at the cost of certainty. Swapping fixed to floating is a standard way to reduce a portfolio's rate sensitivity.
